Yes shore we can do it, come at 11am tomorrow.
I was in Las Vagus for a few days with a friend, Sarah. We were going out for an evening meal and on the way out from our hotel we decided to book a flight over the Grand Canyon for the day after. At the hotel reception I spotted an advert for tandem skydiving. Sarah had been skydiving before and been telling me the full story a few days before.
I nodded at the advert jokingly as I am physically disabled, I cannot walk or talk, and I use a wheelchair to get around and an electronic communicator to talk with. It was therefore unlikely they take me I thought. Sarah suddenly asked the girl at the reception if they could take disabled people skydiving? 'I don't know I'll ring them' the girl suddenly past the phone to Sarah, 'yes, yes, about 9 stone. No his bones are not brittle no, OK I'll call you tomorrow. Sarah put the phone down and said to me 'no problem, they have don it many times before!'
We walked around town looking for a restaurant; we found one and sat down. 'I want to do it' 'do what?' ask Sarah, 'skydive' 'your fucking mad, you need a drink.' 'I always wanted to do it.' Five becardi's later my skydive was defiantly on and Sarah was going to do one with me.

Sarah lifted the receiver on our bedroom phone the next morning and started dialling, she looked at me, 'do you really want to do this?' 5 minutes later our tandem skydive was booked for 11 the next morning.
We were going on a flight over the Grand Canyon that day. We got to the airport, queued up and boarded the 16 seater plane for the hour flight. The plane was full of Japanese and Americans. Has soon as the plane hit an air pocket 3 people through up. Sarah and me looked out of the window, we were high, we were very bloody high, and we were thinking the same thoughts. We asked the captain how high we were flying at '6000 feet.' Sarah and me looked at each other. We were going to jump at 12000 feet tomorrow. Sarah suddenly reached for a sick bag.

Next morning, the day I'll never forget, Sarah was on the phone to John when I came out of the loo for the 4th time! John was a friend back in England. John was the only person in the whole of the UK who knew I was going to skydive that morning.
Every conversation between Sarah and me that morning was full of swearing and uncontrollable laughing. We were shitting ourselves big time! We arrived at the airfield after picking up coffee from MacDonald's on the way.
We were greeted by an instructor who lead us into a room were we were shown a video of what we were about to do. I was worried about landing. 'Don't worry, the guys on the ground will catch your legs and your instructor will bring you down to a safe landing' said the guy. 'Mmmmm'
'Will you please sign this form to say if you get injured or die you cannot take us to court.' We signed it!
We then went into the hanger were we met our cameraman and skydive instructors. Mine was called JR, a tall Dutchman. 'OK, lets kit you up'. 3 blokes attacked me with my jump suit, body harness, knee and elbow pads. I saw Sarah coming out of the loo for the 5th time has JR was pushing me in my wheelchair to the plane. I was loaded in by 4 blokes who sat me on the floor between  JR's legs. There were no seats just a basic shell of a plane. JR strapped himself to me, Sarah was kneeling along side of me strapped to her instructor, Mike. As we took off Mike said 'don't worry, the worse thing we can do is to fall out!'
Sat on the floor I could not see out of the window but I could see JR's altitude meter slowly moving up. JR shouted over the engine' We are jumping at 12000, we will get ready at 8000 then start moving to the door at 10000, we got about 20 minutes.' I was told that Sarah will go first as she jumped before, this was acutely a lie to stop me shitting myself. 8000 feet, hat on goggles on, thumbs up. 95000 feet, the door opens, the noise and the rush of air was incredible. If you were nervous before, your nerves have now gone through the roof!
JR tightens our straps, Mike looks down, yes we were over the airfield, thumbs up from the pilot, it was time to go and I have now found out that I was going first! We got to the door and my first sight of the of the ground and the greatest view I have ever seen. Sarah helped to get my legs out. (One of my best friends is chucking me out of a plane!)
The wind hits me as my legs dangle in mid air. The cameraman was hanging on the wing filming me. Suddenly we left the plane. We were free falling at 130mph for 6000 feet. I was not nervous no more - it was too late for that! The feeling was incredible the row of  the wind took my breath, I just stared at the unbelievable view Suddenly the shoot opened then silence, it was absolutely silence. 'You OK man? Do you like the view?' JR said. His voice was so crisp. Wow what a view man! I could just see the Grand Canyon, has far as I can see was desert and some blue lakes, it felt like we were not moving. Then I saw the airfield coming fast towards us. We approached the landing strip in a arc so that we had plenty of room to land. On our final approach I could see the lads scattered around the landing strip ready to grab my lags which they did with ease. Big cheer was heard has me and JR came to a stop on the ground. Sarah landed soon after me with a bump and some skid marks!
JR shook my hand 'well done man and congratulations - you have now taken off in a plane one more time than you have landed in one!
